Champ– My Little Light

When storms of words cloud up the day,
And Mama’s scolding comes my way,
You stand beside me, hand in mine,
A silent shield, a love divine.

No judgment in your gentle gaze,
Just calmness through the toughest haze.
You hold my heart with quiet might,
Turning every shadow into light.

When tired bones begin to ache,
And all I want is a peaceful break,
You sneak up softly, without a word,
A touch so tender, barely heard.

Your little legs soothe my back,
Filling up what the long day lacks.
That tiny act, so full of grace,
Brings warmth and peace to time and place.

Each morning, dressed and set to go,
I see your eyes begin to glow.
You rush to hug me, hold me tight,
As if to say, “Be safe, all right?”

You watch me leave without a fuss,
Though the parting hurts the both of us.
Your care, your love, without a plea,
Walks out the door each day with me.

You wait to play—your heart so wide,
A football, cards, a swing, a slide.
You wait though time is hard to spare,
Still hoping I’ll be with you there.

You never sulk, don’t stomp or cry,
You just look on with that hopeful eye.
And when I do come home at last,
You forget the waiting, hold me fast.

You hear my words like they are gold,
You trust me deeply, seven years old.
Obedient, wise beyond your days,
You move through life in gentle ways.

Sometimes I feel you guide me more,
Than all the books and roles I bore.
You teach me love without a sound,
In every moment you’re around.

My Champ, son, my morning sun,
My quiet strength, my little one.
You’re just a boy, and yet you show,
What grown-up hearts still long to know.

One day you’ll grow, spread wings and fly,
And chase your dreams across the sky.
But know this truth, forever true—
My world feels whole because of you.
