What is cricket?
The game of gentlemen,
Or the wicked.

Australia against England,
A century old Ashes was kept,
India played Pakistan,
Toronto was glad.

Shane versus Sachin,
Was there a better matching?
Why were captains then--
Involved in betting ?

Hansie and Azhar,
Was money the greatest thing,
For your dear fans,
Did you have no feelings?

A century, a five wicket haul.
A winning six or a brilliant catch,
Was admired by all,
Be it Lords, Eden or the Oval.

Why did you put cricket to shame,
Was pelf greater than fame?
Your name was like God's
And you were expected to win against all odds.

How could you become the worst?
Why did you get matches fixed?
Was it not our love?
Which you needed the most?
